Mitochondria-Microbiota Crosstalk: The Intriguing Relationship - A hot Topic discussed during next ISANH Congresses 2014

Interestingly, due to the prokaryotic origin of mitochondria, mitochondria and microbiota share commons features. Based on an evolutionary point of view, this common origin had profound effects in term of functional interaction with the host.

Moreover, several decades of research on mitochondrial diseases had highlighted the wide and unclear mitochondrial diseases spectrum and interestingly, it superimposes on the spectrum of diseases involving the microbiota.

Based on this new advances, it is important to bring to light the mitochondrial – microbiota relationship and may be to consider mitochondria as a particular member of microbiota. This relationship may be particularly important for new strategies for the treatment of mitochondrial diseases.

The Mitochondria-Microbiota Crosstalk: The Intriguing Relationship will be discussed during the two following congresses:

- 2nd World Congress on Targeting Microbiota 2014 - October 16-17, 2014 - Paris -

- 5th World Congress on Targeting Mitochondria 2014 - October 30-31, 2014 - Berlin -
